ABOUT Nigel Grounds
Nigel Grounds lives and works as an artist at his own gallery in Amadale, Isle of Skye.
He was educated at Portree High School on the Isle of Skye and graduated from Gray's School
of Art, in Aberdeen, with B.A (Hons.) in Fine Art in 1986.
He draws his inspiration from the notable
characteristics of his local landscapes;
Skye with its rugged mountains and
towering sea-cliffs, the western Isles,
with their isolated crofts perching in
machair, overlooking vast, empty beaches,
while dark peaks circle turquoise seas;
fishing and crofting villages such as
Plockton and Applecross nestle
in the grandeur of the surrounding hills.
